Energy drinks and alcohol is the worst thing you can do to your body after smoking

    09/28/11 11:05

Think of the situation when you drink energy drinks and alcohol together; most likely it is in a bar after a hard day at work. Your body is tired but you want to enjoy the evening without looking like a complete dud. You down a couple of these mixed drinks and you feel better due to the alcohol and you feel energized due to the energy drink but really what you're doing is pushing your body further down the road of exhaustion. This creates an elevated heart rate and increased tension and given most people binge drink, with no way to let you the excess energy people can put themselves and their circulatory system at great risk.

Why does diabetes effect people's feet? Is it due to decreased circulatory system performance?

    09/25/11 11:05
My father had diabetes but fought it long enough to pass away from old age reasons rather than the diabetes. He too though had to have his foot amputated right before he died and I've always wondered why (I wasn't particularly close to him so never really had the opportunity to ask). I've tried searching online for this information and the best reason I can find is the decrease in circulatory performance. However, wouldn't this also affect the other extremities as well, like hands or arms? More research is needed I think.

    Your achy breaky heart

    09/22/11 11:05
There is high incidence of heart attack all over the world given all the stress that we face each day and all that glorious food that we eat as well.

It is therefore wise to know how to prevent it and what to do when you feel like you are having one. Clot busting drugs may do the trick but it should first and foremost be supported by a healthy diet and lifestyle. Having these two alone already reduces your risk of a heart attack significantly.

Effects of Energy Drinks on Musicians

    09/19/11 11:05
There is a study which was published in the Journal of Caffeine Research saying linking drinking of energy drinks to alcohol-related problems. The study involved musicians most of whom were noted to consume half of their caffeine intake from energy drinks.

Some of the effects of this consumption include misuse of prescription drugs, binge drinking, alcohol-related social problems such as hangover and arguing with others and recreational use of drugs such as marijuana, psychedelic drugs and cocaine.

    Pulseless heart in testing

    09/15/11 15:08
The latest experiment in artificial hearts is a one made by a doctor who claims to have a head start on other scientists and inventors looking for a way to give humanity a "new heart".

Though artificial hearts have been in use for some time now, the current models still have many problems and generally a very short life span.

It is still much more popular to attempt to get a heart transplant rather than an artificial heart, but Dr. Cohn hopes to change that.

His heart uses small pumps in both of the heart's ventricles to pump blood around the body resulting in a smooth continual flow of blood without the characteristic pulse that a normal human heart produces.

    Living a Healthier Life

    09/11/11 08:40
Wow! This is actually a great news most especially for those who are not capable of buying the expensive and costly medications for different health issues such as heart and lung diseases. They say that it is better to live in some areas where it is a little elevated. In some recent studies, it shows that living in such places will surely keep you away from the different diseases. living at high altitude will surely have great health benefits to the person.

    A cord that saves lives

    09/08/11 06:46
There was a time when all we knew about the umbilical cord was that it's something that connects the baby and his mother. The doctor cuts it after the baby is born and throws it away. Little did we know that this cord can be used to save lives.

Psychological disorders are difficult to diagnose

    09/02/11 06:46
This is a good article about ADHD but the description is a good example of the underlying problem with psychology which is rampant misdiagnosis. This description could potentially apply to every teenager that ever lived as well as any five year old. This isn't necessarily psychology's fault as it isn't like you can X ray someone's head to see the problem on film. You have to base all your evidence on a highly subjective version as gleaned by the patient.
